Busy Day
Gosh it felt so good to experience almost 70 degree weather. I feel like a different person! Here is a quick synopsis of some things we have been up to and then a quick update on our day :)
- Michael and I spent almost a week in Florida without kids. It was phenomenal! We love these two little ones but it's been just too long since we have had time like that together. Caught up with some old friends and had some great time to just escape...not to mention slept through the nights. Holy Cow!
- Michael's surprise 40th birthday party. What a weekend. We spent the first night in Galena then came home to his party on Saturday. What an awesome experience...it was like a smaller scale experience of our wedding...so many of the people we love all in the same room. Our worlds coming together. He was surprised...SUCCESS!
- Joined the YMCA. It's been AMAZING for our family. Our down time is filled up with that. We go together, work out, pick up Jackson from the child watch and play racquetball with him or basketball. He has swim lessons weekly. The staff there is just so amazing with kids. Our Saturday morning routine (if we are home) is that Michael makes delicious french toast and we head to the Y. Love. It.
- I was on retreat for a weekend with some my Titus group-Dad stayed home (with help from Gma Joan) and took care of the kiddos. It was great respite for me. Set some goals for this year-let's see how they go! Accomplished running 5K today-pretty pumped about that one!
- A snake and a rat came to visit St. James preschool. Jackson has told the whole world...and no they aren't 'eeew'. They are pets-and nice. The rat crawled on his knee. He was pretty proud about that.
- We have given up t.v. for Lent. It's incredible. More one on one time, more laughter, more creative time with the kids, more stress but more beautiful moments. :) Loving it-and definitely going to continue 'post Lent'.
- Jackson's preschool got a fish-they voted on names. There were a few to choose from...Jackson chose 'Tractor'. Not a name on the list but no surprise he slipped that in there.
- Addie is definitely 'scooting' all over. She rolls across the floor, gets up in push up style and scoots backwards. Hello world here we come!
- We went on a picnic to Indian Lake on the first nice day outside. Wonderful. Had to leave Cooper at home but enjoyed ourselves all the same.
- Jackson wrote the letter 'J' today. No teaching from me-that's all from St. James.
- We let Addie 'cry it out' which means she is out of a swaddle and self-soothes sufficiently. I broke down and let her keep her paci...we'll fight that battle another day. She's a hungry girl tho-still getting up twice a night to eat. Looked back at J's calendar-he was the same until 8 months. Might have something to do with the fact that she is 90% for weight (per her six month appt) and 30% for height. Tonight she did 'so big'. It was precious...
And today...here's the scene:
- We came home from the Y today and decided to go for a quick walk around the block since it was so beautiful (keep in mind it was already 6:30pm). Not thinking it through I brought Cooper (if you haven't seen me try to walk him on it's quite humorous), Addie was in her stroller for her first spring walk and Jackson was on his battery operated tractor. About a quarter of the way around the block the tractor batter died...so I ended up pushing that in one hand, while trying to keep Cooper at my side with his leash (which is impossible) and Jackson pushed Addie in the stroller. I'm sure we were a sight!
- And then we came home...and as Jackson was getting for bed her reminded me that we had to do his 'devotion' tonight (that was sweet) And he fell asleep clutching his cross (he has been afraid of the dark and is holding a cross as he sleeps so God protects him). These kiddos teach me about the Lord everyday.
Crazy. Wild. Sometimes stressful. Funny. Fast-paced...but ever so blessed.
Caught her smiling. . . |
They are seriously in love. |
Fell asleep holding his zippy cup like this...reading must have worn him out... |
We will do whatever we can to get this kid to eat... |
He asks to take a bath with her daily. I know that won't last forever... |
If your gonna hike you might as well look good doing it... |
