First night with the John Deere lawn mower. He drove it til the battery died. |
Well it's been a busy couple of weeks. I've been putting in extra time at work so that when our little #2 comes along I can have a good maternity leave. So-needless to say, Daddy and Jackson have been bonding. :) And a lot of that bonding has to do with John Deere tractors. Jackson really does have an obsession. At this point in his life (and we are very aware this will probably change) it would not surprise us one bit if he because a farmer. He lives, eats, and breathes John Deere. If he wakes up in the middle of the night he says, "Can I ride the John Deere tractor?" He wears his hat when he's not on the tractor and if the tractor is charging he's carrying around miniature ones. Jackson got the tractor as an early birthday present from Gma and Gpa Weitl. We couldn't fit it in our car on the way home so we sent it with Daryn and Becky and told Jackson it would be in our garage in Verona when we got home. Well needless to say it was a late night and our car was packed when three days after that we were headed back to Verona from the week at home. Daryn and Becky had been storing the tractor at their house. Michael said we should stop to get the tractor and I said no way will he remember and we didn't have room. So I said let's ask him and see if he remembers. I asked Jackson, "What are you going to do when you get home?" He said, "Play with cars..." Great-he didn't remember. Well about fifteen minutes later he says to Michael, "Daddy-where we going?" And Michael responds, "To our house in Verona." Jackson says, "Where I can ride my John Deere tractor?" Well we managed to fit the tractor in the car. :)
Beyond that he has been enjoying summer. The trip to the farm for Kenzie's wedding really was a dream for him. From driving a backhoe himself, to riding four wheelers, a gator and getting his new tractor he really did live a little boys dream. Not to mention he did a great job as a ring bearer.
As far as other things, here are a few things he has been up to:
- Today Grandpa Weitl called to tell him that when he comes to the farm next week he can't ride the tractor unless he has gone pee on the potty. We had a 'no clothes' day today and he went five times. Not sure if it was the tractor ultimatum or the naked time but whatever it was we will take it!
- He jumped off the diving board today at Blue Mounds State Park Pool. We were so proud. :)
- We discovered that he has a unique way of saying yes. Our friends Adam and Andrea commented that he says 'huh' a lot when you ask him something and we thought it just meant he couldn't hear or wasn't listening. Sure enough, Michael uncovered "Huh" is really his way of saying, "uh-huh." Amazing how simple things can change the meaning...
- Loves to dance. Especially to Chicken Fried.
- When we were home we were headed to a fourth of July celebration in the Sequoia with Mom and Dad. Michael, Jackson and myself were in the backseat with him the middle in his car seat. Well my mom was a little out of from the wedding and we weren't really paying attention. Mom was going through a red light when Jackson yells, "Grandma it's a red light, you got to stop." Lol-we were cracking up since he was the only one to notice!
- He LOVED the fireworks this year-was so sad every time they ended.
- Michael has been working on staining things in the basement and had a board in the garage that was on it's last coat of varnish when Jackson drove his tractor in the garage to park it and knocked the shelf over. Michael was upset and so I took Jackson in to put him to bed. When I was putting him down I told him that daddy was upset. He asked, "Why is daddy mad?" I told him it was because he knocked his shelf over. Then Jackson looks at me and says, "Can I go see him?" And he walked out in the garage and gave Michael a hug.
