St. Nicholas Day.

A night with NOTHING on the calendar...unbelievable.

Dinner as a family.

Playing a game together (Beat the Parents).

Another Advent prayer.

But the highlight of my day.  Sitting on the couch and reading books together as a family (minus the little guy who was in bed).  Addie Rose reading a book, Jackson reading a book.  All about the beauty of Christmas.  What more could I want?  What more could I aim for?

Lord help me remember that THESE are the moments that I need.  These are the beautiful thing.  Remind me to 'waste time' with my family...

George H.W. Bush died last week.  His funeral services have been a hit with so many people.  And his son quoted this that really stuck with me:

"In his inaugural address, the 41st President of the United States said this: 'We cannot hope to only leave our children a bigger car, a bigger bank account,'" Bush said. "'We must hope to give them a sense of what it means to be a loyal friend, a loving parent. A citizen who leaves who home, his neighborhood and his town a better place than when he found it. What do we want the men and women who work with us to say when we are no longer there? That we were more driven to succeed than anyone around us, or that we stopped to ask if a sick child had gotten better and stayed a moment there to trade a moment of friendship.'"
