I'm convinced that daily we should turn out the lights, light a candle and pray. There is something so tangible about the light in a dark room that transfers immediately to the heart.
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” Isaiah 9:2 (NIV)
Today was a pretty typical Monday. I had a couple newborn shoots so Asher went to hang at the Andes for the day. We came home and prepped dinner. Michael and the kids raked an EPIC leaf pile in the backyard. The Rechemmers joined us for dinner and we had Campaigners at 7:00pm. It was a late night with Alex and Maggie/good to connect with them.
A new friend arrived tonight. The Shepard on a Search. The meaning of this little guy is so much more than Elf on the Shelf and the kids were SO excited this morning. So fun to watch their enthusiasm.
Tonight at Campaigners we shut off the lights and lit a candle for a minute of silence. At supper we've been lighting our Advent wreath and doing our Advent prayers. Today I had quiet space in Adoration (the tabernacle is temporarily in the office) and when I walked into that room there was a STRONG sense of peace from the Lord. Seeing that candle in all those contexts is such a reminder of the above passage. I feel tired and worn down, carrying some burdens...but the hope I feel in Jesus in undeniable. What a total gift.
