November 1, 2015
My sis and I gave up aimless scrolling on social media for November...in an attempt to be more aware of the things we are grateful for. In one short day I recognize what a hold my 'smart' phone has on me. What an addiction. So so thankful for this.
Today I noticed the in-between moments. The moments when I would be tempted to pick up my phone I saw color in trees, or felt the warmth of the sun...or I just sat in nothingness. How often do I do that? Sit without something at my finger tips. Praise God for a day trying to do so. I've got a long ways to go but I know this is a good thing.
And for a brief update since it has been WAY too long.
Jackson is learning SO much in first grade. We had his conferences last week and nothing but good reports. He is learning to read, learning common core math and for the most part is responding well to this newfound responsibility of homework. He'd still rather spend his entire day out in his 'farm' out back which he literally runs to every night after he finishes his homework. Always fixing something, always tinkering, he is a farmer deep down to his bones...and he is a little guy who makes us proud all the time.
Addie Rose has really turned a corner. No other way to describe her but sweet. She is just endearing these days. Lovable, helpful, patience and kind...she's an incredible big sister. She's responded so well to school...and just started gymnastics (we gave up on dance) which she is really excited about. She ends up in our bed every night and yet is the best cuddler around so I don't mind. ;) One of the cutest little habits that she has is inserting the word 'why' where there should be the word 'because'. Eg., driving home the other day and it was super windy so I made a comment about it. Addie Rose says, "That's why it's fall momma." :) So cute.
And Asher. Oh Asher Alan. You are a kick. Seriously this kid. Does he ever keep us on our toes. The poor guy tries so hard to keep up with his older bro and sis that he daily has some sort of incident where he falls and hurts himself. He looks three and he isn't even two yet. Seriously he's only an inch or two shorter than Addie Rose. He is always exploring. He's always entertaining. He's waiting to see if you are going to laugh at him. Just the other day the sitter said he was running into the wall and falling, then looking to see if she laughed. This is just typical Asher. He seriously cracks us up. And gotta love his cuddly little personality. He loves to snuggle. And I love that. He is also obsessed with Curious George. He is starting to make more and more words and he's got dance moves that would out anyone to shame (think deep squats/cowboy yoga style). :)
Michael and I are good. Living through the ups and downs of a busy and yet super blessed life. We are healthy. We have so much and couldn't ask for more. We are grateful and praying we spend this month realizing that. So incredibly much to be thankful for.
