December 2nd
It was another great day, still a little quiet in this house without the two Littles and my husband… But that being said it's been a total blessing to just have some time Jackson. I worked today and he had school so we woke up and had plenty of time in the morning together… What a gift to not feel so rushed.
After work, we headed out to get some Christmas lights for the outside… We spent some time together at Chick-fil-A, or Jackson excitedly watched the Chick-fil-A mascot walk around the store… And revved up some kids in the Playland. This kid has so much energy, and his pure enthusiasm for the Christmas season is contagious. He was stopped dead in his tracks about six times tonight at Lowe's when he was just mesmerized by some Christmas object. A train under a tree, a miniature city, a huge blown up Santa Claus, you name it-he noticed it. So sweet.
I'd have to say the most memorable part of my day was the following: as we walked into Chick-fil-A we spotted a giving tree, first noticeable because of the presents sitting under it. Of course this was yet another Christmas object that Jackson was drawn to… However when I explained what it was and that there wre angels on the tree that we could buy a present for he insisted we pick one. We found a 12-year-old boy and he determined what on the list he will buy for the boy… He wanted to do it immediately. I explained to him we have a few days…
After we had gotten our food and we sat down to dinner I asked him to say grace for meal… He started his prayer by praying for the angel boy on the tree that we picked without any prodding from me. What an incredible kid. I love this guy and I fear I have already missed so many moments like this because I've been moving too fast. Thank you God for the season of Advent, help me to stay slowed down. I want to enjoy every second of the beauty of my childrens awe and see this christmas season through their eyes.
