December 14th

Made my way back from Des Moines today… I can't believe how nice it was to just sleep for a whole night and to have 24 hours to myself… I am so thankful for my husband. It was also a gift to be with my family this weekend… And to feel like across a few things off the list. I think Michael and the kids survived which is excellent! And I wasn't joining a long drive across the state… It is amazing what that can do for the soul. Still, it always feelswonderful to walk in that door and be greeted by kids who are super excited to see you. One of the greatest gifts of this life. Not to mention a husband who felt a little relief when he saw me come home. Had a great weekend, glad to be home.

We finally put the ornaments on our tree tonight. I remember when I was little and used to open up ornaments and think these are not very fun gifts, and now that I'm older I anticipate each year going through those boxes and reminiscing about those ornaments. It is so fun for me, for my husband, and for our kids. Watching them decorate the tree really does bring around the Christmas spirit. It was a wonderful night.
