Nov 3: Thankful
Electricity. Simple. But something I TOTALLY take for granted. We use it everyday and yet I don't realize what a gift it is.
This morning our power went out. The day I'm hosting a small group at my house. The morning I'm supposed to be cleaning, cooking and preparing for people to come. Well shoot. I put Asher down for a nap and as I was upstairs I noticed all the laundry hanging out and calling my name. Well alrighty then, I'll take this opportunity to start a load of laundry…put it in. Add the detergent and turn it on…only to remember the power was out. Okay I'll go down and edit some photos, but wait, I can't upload them to the internet because the power is out and that means no internet... I also realized I couldn't make breakfast (which is normally a protein shake)…the list, in a mere 20 minutes, went on and one...
And then it came back on. And I went right back to operating the way I usually do. Sometimes I'm so focused on how technology gets me distracted that I forget to realize what a gift it is. To live in a world where you flip a switch and a light comes on is something people didn't dream of a 100 years ago.
Blessed. And very thankful.
