A New Year: 2014

Well I think a part of me has been postponing a blog update in hopes that the next one would a birth story!!!  But alas, this little one is staying put for the time being so I at least need to give a little update into the lives of the two that rule the roost these days.  :)

Never a dull moment here...and when they do come I find myself pretty tired so the last thing I've been motivated to do is blog but I've been collecting some of their traits/stories so I thought I'd throw them together quick.

Jackson has been anticipating the birth of the baby.  He is convinced it is a boy and tells the world we will name him Jacob.  To appease this obsession Grandma Joan bought a beta fish for her house with Jackson and Addie Rose.  They named him, you guessed it, Jacob.  :)  Two weeks ago while Michael was traveling to Florida Grandma & Grandpa Weitl and Great Grandma Weitl came up for a long visit and helped assemble a bunk bed in Jackson and Addie's room.  I gotta admit-it far-surpassed my expectations and turns out to be a favorite new hangout in the house.  These kids are so lucky and I don't know if they realize it.  It's complete with an underneath fort and even a slide that Jackson has convinced every adult to go down-even mommy at 9.5 months pregnant!  So much fun to see his excitement about it.  I think his daddy likes the bed more than him--as the last few nights I've found him there in the morning!

Jackson is starting to read-and he is really excited about it.  He loves to make rhymes and he does his best to spell out words he is interested in.  It's so fun to see the lights come on for him and to see him make connections.  He continues to have the same obsessions with cars, trucks, remote controlled items and any other kind of boy toy.  However-with Addie's increasing stereotypical girls toys around here it is fun to see him bring out a different side.  Like wanting to sing the Little Mermaid song or being more gentle with her.  Overall-he remains the same energetic kid-running through the hall and jumping over some object is one of his favorite activities.

We went out to Texas Roadhouse when my parents were visiting.  He LOVES that place.  As he was eating peanuts he started to explain to some customers what they should do with their shells.  He then says, "I don't work here but I've been here before..."  This kid is not afraid to give directions.  :)
Him and his Grandpa Dan also visited the John Deere Pavillion together-I think they were both in heaven.

Addie Rose and her sweetness grows exponentially day by day.  When I think back to how hard last year at this time was I'm astonished at how much she has grown, how much more she communicate and how stinkin' sweet she is.  With her the sweetest moments are in her growing vocabulary.  Some of her favorite phrases are:  Don't want to (said sternly), Just a minute, okay mom (at the end of every sentence), and she has a tendency to put a 'y' on the end of things.  (booky, cuppy, etc).  It's so sweet.  We tried a boot camp potty training but this girl just wouldn't have it...as with everything with her-she will do it on HER time.  I'm convinced of that.  Case in point:  we seriously tried for three days straight just to get her to go pee on the potty.  I gave up after two.  A week later Jackson goes in the bathroom to go potty and Addie follows.  I hear him scream, "Mommy-Addie went potty."  Of course I don't believe him because she was fully clothed.  I walk in, he has taken her diaper off and she did go pee in the potty.  SERIOUSLY???  The funniest part of it was that she looked at my like it was no big deal.  That little girl!!!

Life at home is great.  While I pray daily to have a good attitude with all this discomfort, I wake up every morning so thankful for the little blessings we have.  Michael has been taking the realm with the kiddos a lot these days...I came home from a long day at work and heard stories of how they played "Knight, princess and dragon" up in their room for the majority of the evening.  Even Cooper played a part...These kids are SO blessed to have a father like him who gives them so much love and affection...not to mention me being lucky to have a husband who is so patient with me in these days when I don't have much to give.

We anxiously await this little one.  I know our lives will change A LOT...but I'm so ready to meet this baby...and so ready to be physically able to tend to J and A again soon.... :)  Maybe the next post will be just that.  :)
