Spring

Well Addie isn't the only one who has been up to things around here.  It's been a busy month, go figure, when isn't it?  Seems like that is the case with everyone these days.

But it's been blessed.  The highlight for Jackson this past month was without a doubt a trip to the farm.  He followed Grandpa around, spent time in the tile trench, was in the back hoe with Kenzie and even managed to walk into the Case store wearing a John Deere hat and shirt but walking out with a Case hat and Case combine.  :)  Needless to say he had a BLAST!  And it truly was a blessing to give Addie Rose some undivided attention.

Jackson also made the transition to a 'big boy bed'.  It was his surprise when he came home from the farm.  Our hope was that it would help him sleep the entire night in his room (instead of joining us about 2:00 a.m. which has been his routine as of late).  Well it didn't work until Easter when his treat was a piece of Easter candy if he slept in his bed.  That worked like a charm.  Three nights in a row of him staying in it-we will see if it continues.  We are about ready to order him a bunk bed so this is part of the set.

Jackson has also been practicing his Spanish.  Since no longer watching t.v., J has been reading a lot more which also means I have been reading to him more.  One of my 2012 goals was to read him a book in Spanish a day.  We miss some days but I always try to at least teach him a new word or review some words.  To my surprise, he is getting it!  He can count to 10 in Spanish all by himself.  He knows how to say, "I love you," "What else," "big and little" along with other phrases.  I just failed to realize how quickly he might pick this up...it's been fun.

We took Jackson to Good Friday service this year.  I incorporated a Easter Egg Resurrection story into our routine on Good Friday.  He has this little egg carton that had plastic easter eggs in it.  In each one was a symbol from the story of the Ressurection (Egg #1=broken cracker and we talked about Jesus breaking the bread for the disciples...and so on).  I could not believe how he got it.  He walked into church, looked at the cross and talked about the thorns and the fact that the soldiers took Jesus' clothes.  What a moment-to see him 'getting' it.  It was blessed...

And Easter Sunday....oh Jackson.  We go to a church we have only been to once in the Quad Cities.  It's a church set in a sort of circle.  At the sign of peace he goes around almost the entire front rows of pews in the whole church (we were in the front pews) greeting people.  And then as they walked by for communion he says to everyone, "Happy Easter."  Being social is not a problem for this little man.

A few of his more 'strong willed' phrases lately have been:
  • I'm serious mom.
  • Just a second (stress the second part).
  • I'm busy.
  • Told 'yah.
On the flip side here are some other ones:
  • I love you THIIIISSSS much (arms stretched out wide).
  • Are those the thorns on Jesus' head?
  • Te amo.
  • Something 'bout a trrrrruuuuuuuccccckkkkkk....in a farmer's field.
And last night I had the privilege of taking my little man on a date.  Just me and him.  We went to a movie...it was wonderful.  Just driving in the car with him alone was a weird experience, feels like it has been so long.  We saw the Lorax, he loved it and by the end he actually sat in my lap.  Priceless memories.

I think I have a picture like this for every year.  :)

Diggin' the carrots :)
