30 Days of Thanksgiving: Day 1
So I'm stealing this idea from my 'lil sis who is just a stud. She does this on her facebook status updates for the month of November...I got thinking-how cool would it be to look back in twenty years and remember the 'little things' that I'm thankful for in our little family.
Six years ago today Michael proposed to me at breakfast in a little town called Alton, IL overlooking the mighty Mississippi River so it seems appropriate to begin my thankfulness with him. Seriously he is such an incredible man. He just supports us in ways I know I take for granted. Today he took time from his insane schedule to join me and the kids at Jackson's trunk or treat at school. I know it was only twenty minutes or so but we'll never get that back...and he could have easily said, "I'm swamped and can't afford to take the time..." but he didn't...and that to me is pure blessing.
In the same way he knows me and my heart...and when I needed to be called out last week about not taking quiet time to feed my soul he did it. He is the spiritual leader of our family that I could have never dreamed of...and he does it in ways that sometimes start me off frustrated but leave me thankful. He helps all of us to know the Lord so much better and to make Him the priority of all.
And he is an amazing father. He supports our family, he plays with the kids-really plays with them. He helps discipline and yet lives life with them. He helps me be a better mother and he teaches me to love our kids with more freedom and less stress.
I'm so thankful for the man of our house. Our family would not be who we are without him.
