30 Days of Thanksgiving: Day 5

Today we bought a new car...well not brand new car but new to us.  And it's great-we really like it...and as I was driving it yesterday it gave me pause to think about how blessed we are financially.  When only 9% of the world owns a car...granted a lot of people just don't need them and a lot of people use public transportation in other parts of the world.  But a lot of people can't afford one...seriously...what a luxury to have two-do I even realize that the majority of the time.

We have been so blessed by provision in our life.  Michael and I marvel all the time at the life we live, the house we have, the security we feel.  When we chose the paths we chose we didn't do it for money or security...  And we know that any day God could choose to say, okay no more 'things'...so we strive to not be attached to these things.  I recall a moment when we thought we may lose our house because of a financial situation...and quite honestly-it didn't bother me.  It's a wonderful house and I would be sad, but we aren't called to live clinging to those things-but rather appreciating them.  So today I'm thankful for our situation which allows us to have a home, a car, food on the table and clothes on our back.  Growing up anywhere else, being in a different circumstance may have and still could change all that.  My heart wants to continue to appreciate all these provisions that have been set before us, not take them for granted and to not cling tightly to these things...
