30 Days of Thanksgiving: Day 26

Today I'm thankful for traditions.  My husband talks about traditions all the time, especially from his days in the Quad Cities.  Whitey's ice cream, Saturday burger baskets, Governors after Mass (notice how they all revolve around food? :) )  But it's true-it's so nice to have those things that are just constant in our lives, that we can 'count on.'

For me growing up it was Sunday night dinners (usually steak) and Sunday morning (bacon & eggs) breakfasts.  Saturday night Mass and stopping at the bar in Templeton to socialize.  Christmas Eve at my parents house and cherry cheesecake cupcakes on Valetine's Day.  St Nick visiting by pounding on the windows and nut clusters at Christmastime.  Cheers on New Years and Christmas with a little tiny champaign glass...monster cookies and homemade popcorn with a movie.  Family pictures in front of the fireplace...

Whatever they are they bring up a treasured memory.  Today we went to the Circle Tap for burger baskets which happens to be one of my hubbies traditions.  $3.00 for a burger and fries-can't beat that!  But it made me think about all those traditions and hope that my children will reflect back on theirs too someday!

There is the little wine glass. . .
Check out the cherry cheesecake cupcakes!  Ahh my faithful mother :)
