30 Days of Thanksgiving: Day: 13
Suffice it to say that today I'm thankful for community. Today we celebrated Adelyn Rose's baptism at Edgewood. And being there, with so many people around us, seriously left Michael and I close to tears on numerous occasions. It was a BEAUTIFUL ceremony, celebrated by two priests that we love, with friends and family gathered around. Edgewood went above and beyond in terms of planning for it and we felt so much joy in the experience of this Sacrament for our beautiful little girl...not to mention she was just a total angel throughout it all.
I really felt like we experienced what baptism is all about because of the way the ritual was done in the Mass, it was such a strong symbol of inviting Addie into a vibrant and loving community. It just made it very real for us. And to have such a wide variety of people surrounding us for this event, from students to friends to family just made it even more special. Our little man Jackson also definitely helped to steal the show...I think people truly enjoyed his personality as it came out. (He had to carry is his combine and four wheel drive tractor up to us by the baptismal font).
We will never forget this day. I was so thankful to our family and friends for making it to celebrate with us, for Edgewood for being so willing to allow us to baptize Adelyn there and for going above and beyond in preparation of the liturgy and to God for orchestrating such a beautiful event. This little girl has captured our hearts and this memory will forever be etched in our minds.
