September is almost over...Holy. Cow.
Well we have been adjusting to life with two little ones. I've had more than one excursion out of the house with both of the kids by myself and the biggest accomplishment was definitely going to mass on Sunday, by myself, with Jackson and Addie! Can't believe how much the little things feel like such conquests.
It has been nice to have this past week to just get used to life as a family. It has been a pretty great routine, especially with Jackson having school. It has felt so manageable because I have the time in the morning and then we come home, he has lunch and they both nap in the afternoon. I don't expect that schedule to continue so consistently forever, but it sure has been nice.
Addie joined me as I went back to work at Edgewood last week. I worked Tuesday and Wednesday evening last week and she was with me until midnight both nights! She was AMAZING! I hope her incredible disposition continues-at least until the retreat is finished because she will be seeing many more hours at Edgewood as we get ready for this event!
We have been working with Jackson on making good choices as he has been a little rough to his friends at school. We changed our discipline tactic with him a little bit and he now works on a rewards system. If he makes good choices he earns back his tractors one by one. The first reward took getting 8 stars and he could get his combine. I haven't ever experienced him listening so well or being so motivated. It's also quite endearing to hear him tell about making bad choices. I'm glad he is getting it...
He really has been a TOTAL JOY lately. His conversational skills are so fun and he is just so stinkin' extroverted...constantly talking to anyone who is willing to listen. Still one of his favorite phrases is, "Can you talk to me?". He started singing a song from preschool the other day, "What's the weather like today, like today, like today..." It's so fun to see him bringing some of those things home with him. Also-after Blackhawk on Sunday he came home and at lunchtime told me, "God made my family...at Blackhawk Church." What a difference to see him retaining things and sharing them with us. It makes each new day so much fun to see what he might say.
Adelyn had her two week checkup last week and all looks good. Any concerns we had were immediately relieved and she grew 1.75 inches since she was born! She also weighs 9lbs 2oz which is a good sign that she is eating well. I still can't get over what a great baby she is. We are trying to determine whether or not she has reflux...it seems she has some pain after she eats. Today we contacted the doctor and will try some medicine to see if it helps. Even with that-she is such a joy the majority of the time, making the transition so much easier!
Michael's work has kept him super busy...and while it is wonderful it is definitely left me needing a little extra help. We were so grateful to have Kenzie and Dillon come up this weekend. While Kenzie and I had girl time on Saturday, Uncle Dillon hung with Jackson...I tell you it is just such a blessing to have people and family members who embrace your children as if they are their own. It was such a nice break this weekend to have two extra sets of hands. I'm so blessed. We just missed the rest of the fam! And I got to meet my new niece Rye, which is Kenzie and Luke's new dog. She is a cutie and she has a little bit of a fiesty side which will keep Kenzie busy!
Overall life in the Havercamp Household is going pretty well and we are feeling so blessed. Seriously, there isn't a week that goes by that we don't stop and thank God for what is happening in our family, in our friendships and in our ministry. We could never have predicted the joy we are now experiencing. Thanks to everyone who has been supporting us, praying for us, bringing us meals, sending thoughts.
