It has been too long since I have written an update on here. Things have been a little crazy but isn't that always the case? I can honestly say though, that even in all that, I have truly been enjoying the little moments of Jackson. I just came from his room where he was sleeping sprawled out similar to the picture above and just had a little moment of 'adoration'. I can't believe how much joy a child brings into the world.
Yesterday we had the VanDrunen's visiting from Chicago, last night we hung out with our good friends the Allens and this morning after our small group met for a wonderful brunch after which we headed to Lake Geneva (beautiful town) to visit some friends from St. Louis. . .the past two days have been packed with friends and while were we exhausted by the time we arrived home-it was the kind of joyful and rested exhaustion that comes from great time spent with wonderful people. Once again we realize how 'rich' we are in terms of community. . .what a blessing.
I'm finishing up at Edgewood, just a trip to New York at the end of the month before I get my two months of summer off. For the month of June we will be at Timberwolf Lake and we are really looking forward to it. In the meantime, we continue to chase Jackson around and discover all the ways he is growing. . .here are some updates:
- He has started to "spell". He looks at words and points to letters saying, "A, R, R, A". Not exactly spelling correctly but getting the concept. Its really endearing...
- He is using sentences a lot more. Last week we drove to pick up puppies for my mom and Aunt. They stayed with us for a night. The first morning they were gone he woke up and asked, "Where go puppies?"
- This past week Kenzie was doing headstands in front of him. . .it didn't take long for him to mimic and then figure out how to do somersaults. He sometimes goes a little crazy doing them!
- He has gotten in two of his eye teeth and is finally back to sleeping through the night. I think that was the difficulty.
- We are spending a lot of time outside, going for hikes and to parks. He has mastered the swing and still does not want to come back in the house when it is time.
- He has a sixth sense about tractors. We will be driving along, he will say tractor. We will say no Jackson, there is no tractor...and sure enough we see one-way out in a field somewhere. It's unbelievable-he's totally ready for the farm.
